Yesterday Nomi baked a quiche, and blind-baked the base, using pasta, in preparation. When she emptied the pasta from the base, she noticed that the shells had taken on an extraordinary texture. Rather than the smooth, simple appearance that pasta shells normally have, these dry-baked ones had unusual disk-shaped features visible in the pasta itself. Some of them appeared to have burst "through" to the surface, resulting in cracks. They made for an interesting macro photo!
