Photo Flyers Arrive!
After a very long, very hot night, I was rewarded this morning with the delivery from the printer’s of a box full of my first photography promo flyers! I have never seen 2500 copies of any of my photos before, but I now have a whole box of them!
I was originally planning to start putting them in local letter boxes as soon as they arrived, but the current record-breaking heatwave that has Melbourne paralysed (43C+ today and yesterday) would make that dangerous. In the meantime I’ll be working on a contract for clients, and making a phone record form, for me to take down bookings when they come.
I’m SO close now to getting business going! I’m very excited :)

Congratulations, Neil. I wish you the best of luck with your company and flyers…………………..:)
Any chance you could post a PDF of the flyer so we can see what it looks like? :o)
You rock! They look awesome :)
I see you followed some of my earlier recommendations :)

Congrats and best of luck with your business endeavors!
I believe the best way to ensure your business takes off like a rocket is to get featured in a local newspaper, magazine, kid’s clothing store, etc. – find out who your target audience is and appear to them in the “celebrity” light.
In the end, it’s all about credibility and coolness factor – “there are 100s of photographers out there, but the photographer for my precious one is a famous one!” I am a parent, so I know.
Remember – you are obviously an amazing photographer – that doesn’t mean you are a good marketing person / business person. Maybe it even makes sense to swap services with a marketing professional – I shoot some pictures for you, you develop a marketing plan for me / a business plan. Reading books on that subject may help considerably, as well (I was shocked to find out that my local library had an amazing business books section stuffed with the latest and greatest books – I am sure libraries in Melbourne are excellent, as well!
Also, network with people – you never know who your new acquaintance might be. One photosession of the Melbourne Demons player’s kid might be all you need (I am an American AFL fan). To do that, you need to 1) Always look good, even when you run out the door for a quick popcorn and a movie and 2) Always sound good – excited, passionate, professional.
Again, best of luck, and sorry if my unsolicited advice ticked you off.
Huzzah! Can’t wait to see your progress. Happy promoting, Neil!
Hi Neil,
I wish you a great start into your business and hope the heat drops a bit so you can start promoting it :)
Good luck and Enjoy it :)
