I found this interesting article (link below) on the 'net on a different type of camera strap attachment. The writer of the article makes an interesting point about how most camera strap attachments can be a little inconveniently placed.

Not so handy for those of us who attach and detach the camera with a tripod... But some people may like the idea...

I agree - always take your camera with you. If you're out and about, it's a real shame to only be able to say "I wish I had my camera" when you could have had a stunning shot.

I think for me it's the fear of dropping my camera that makes me want to keep the strap on.
I also find it easier to carry the camera with the strap... Most of the photography I've done has been while out walking... So rather than have my camera in my bag, I prefer to have it handy. You never know if the moment for a brilliant photo will be a brief one that passes you by...
