Flashback Photos – June04: Puffing Billy Steam Train

I thought that it might be fun to do an occasional retrospective post, and share some of my favourite photos from days gone by. I’d like to do this from time to time in the future, so that I can have the chance to share some of my older work that I am proud of but wouldn’t otherwise be able to show.
Today’s flashback is from four years ago, when I had not been shooting long with my first DSLR, the Sigma SD10. It was a great camera, but Sigma dropped the ball with timely updates to their models, so I switched to Canon.
This set was taken up in the Dandenong Ranges, half an hour’s drive from home, where the restored steam train “Puffing Billy” does weekend tourist journeys around the hills. This train is well and truly part of Melbourne culture, and just about everyone who grew up here recalls fun childhood memories of a ride on Puffing Billy.
