Here are a few more photos of my Dad's mineralogy collection. From top to bottom:
- A piece of rough tigereye. Even before it's cut and polished, the golden bands shimmer in the light.
- A larger (30mm) pair of amethyst crystals.
- This is some dendritic agate. The black dendrite growths extendend into the milky translucent stone, and look almost like little trees in fog. This is a HDR image, assembled from eight seperate images of different exposure, using Photoshop's "merge to HDR". I did this so that the intense backlight showing the dendrites could be seen as well as the dimly lit front. If I had two working flash transmitters, It wouldn't have been as much of an issue :)
- Finally this is the same piece of amethyst I showed you the other da, but this time I attempted to backlight it. This image is also HDR to a certain degree, and is made from two seperate exposures manually merged in Photoshop.
