  • dude, I used to love twitter, but now I’m really hooked on friend feed. Have you looked into it yet? You can visit mine at http://friendfeed.com/damienfranco it’s more interactive and something else to get addicted to.

  • Damien, yes I tried Friend Feed, and subscribed to the rss feed in Google reader. But I quickly became overwhelmed by everything there, especially the redundant stuff which I’ve already seen from my friends via twitter, shared reader items, their blog feeds etc. I unsubscribed the feed this morning. I need a tool that can finely filter the friend feed items, and easily. Yoono’s beta looks interesting but I haven’t got access to that yet.

  • Neil, the twitter widget is only displayed on the front page of your blog – it’s not displayed when viewing a single post.
Because I subscribe to your blog via Google Reader, and almost always will open the full post in a separate Firefox tab (I’m not keen on reading posts in the Reader itself), I never see your twitter widget, as I never visit your front page.

  • I didn’t notice any change at all, and am not on twitter, so sorry I can’t be of help. All I know is that I can get in your blog today, the other day I couldn’t. But seems everything is fine, the problem, was probably on my end.

  • @Martin – I put the widget on the front to trial it, before I went ahead and put it throughout the site. I think it was a wise choice, as it’s turning out not to be worth the space it takes up.

@Chica – I had a few problems with the blog this week, but it seems to have settled down for now. Lets hope it stays that way!

  • Hi Neil,
Congrats! Those are stats to be proud of; sounds like your guest posts at DPS have been really beneficial to your blog.
I recently upgraded to the latest WordPress version, nowhere near as scary as I thought it would be and, in fact, it seems to be faster. Even my site seems to be a bit faster. I noticed your site loads quicker than it did, say two months ago. Was that a theme change or did you remove widgets back then to speed it up?
I don’t use Twitter, no room at for new addictions right now :)
