Poll: Should I start a Flickr group?

The audience for this blog continues to slowly but steadily grow over time, something which thrills and excites me. As growth continues, I spend more time thinking about what I want to achieve with the blog. At first I was content to simply document the photos I take, but I’ve had a lifelong love of teaching, and through a few tutorial posts, and the monthly projects this year, the blog has become more of a shared learning environment.
I would really like to strengthen this aspect of the blog, and help to build a strong, casual, informative and helpful community from the readers and visitors here. The ability to do this within the blog framework is quite limited, however. My buddy Brian over at Epic Edits has been doing something along these lines himself, and has set up a Flickr group. This allows him to have a shared photography pool that his group members can contribute to, to show off their photos. There is also a discussion board as part of the group, which allows for a much easier flow of conversation than the one-sided system of commenting on posts, as happens on a blog.
How would you, the readers of this blog, feel about becoming part of an always-learning, sharing and experimenting photography community, via a group on Flickr? I have created a poll to gauge the interest in this proposal. It appears in the right column on every individual post page in the blog (it’s not on the front page). I’ve also included it in this post below. Could you please share your opinion with me by taking a couple of seconds to click on your choice and vote?

If you are reading this post via a feed reader, please click on the post heading to come to the post page on the blog to vote. The poll will be active until the end of this month, or sooner if I recieve sufficient feedback before then.
I really appreciate your feedback, and I hope you’re as excited about the idea of making this a more interactive learning experience as I am!

I’d love to see a collaborative Flickr group. The discussions will probably need some leadership from you at first to make sure they get off the ground, but I think it’s a great idea.

Neil, it’s just showing me the voting results, and not allowing me to vote (and I’m not viewing it in a reader).

After clearing my cookies, I could successfully vote. I’m not sure why my PC thought I had already voted…

Thanks for pointing out that shortcoming Marty, I’ve changed the poll logging to IP instead of cookies. If anyone else has any problems voting, please let me know!

Neil,
I hope you will start a Flickr group. I think that is what Flickr is for – to share not only photos, but also ideas, tips and techniques related to photography. I’m a passionate photographer, so any advice about techniques, etc., that I can get will tremendously help me. I already try to share what I’ve learned about photography.

I love the idea!
