P365 Day 143

Rosie cosplayed as Katarina from League of Legends, along with friend Mei who cosplayed Sango from Inu Yasha in a photo shoot that was a long time in the planning! When we finally were able to get together we had a fantastic time and made so many photos that it was difficult for me to choose one to represent the day.

This photo was taken in a local reserve in the forest, and mixed the natural light with a pair of flash units to add some drama.

A portrait of friend Sare. The setup for the photo was as follows: Folding black backdrop behind. One Einstein 640 at half power with 7" reflector directly behind the models (you can see it in one of the photos). One Einstein 640 also at half power with a 60" softbox camera left (see the reflection in the eyes). Fill was provided by the two lights bouncing off nearby walls.

A backlight iris bloom. I bounced a flash off a white wall at 1/4 power. This backlight the petals, showing interesting structural detail.

Magnet Cosplay Shoot

Yesterday I got together with a couple of beautiful young friends for a costume shoot. It’s been a while since I’ve done a casual, low key shoot with just a few friends, rather than a giant photo meet. We were able to get a great quiet location with a nice white backdrop (thanks Andrew!). Siami (pink hair) and Bonnie (green hair) were cosplaying outfits from the Vocaloid song Magnet, a song about forbidden love. The costumes were beautiful, the girls were relaxed and enjoyed themselves, and I got to play around with lighting.
